I measure my life partly in terms of music. What I listen to speaks volumes. I grew up engrossed in the works of such performers as Simon and Garfunkel, Jim Croce, John Denver, Harry Chapin, and Gordon Lightfoot. They brought their art to life, and with it special moments in time. I remember hearing about Jim Croce’s untimely death, news about the sinking of the Edmund Fitzgerald, and “Calypso” and “Cats in the Cradle” for the first time. These notable events made lasting impressions—revelations of a great lose and the uncompromising power of nature, as well as the introduction to uplifting and inspiring compositions. Can it be, then, that I am an amalgamation of the music of my past, present, and future? I have to say, undoubtedly!
